You may be a religious person. You may be respected in your family and community as the person who is doing everything you can to be saved. However, you may not find salvation and you won’t find true peace. Salvation is not in your action, it’s in a person. It’s in his action, and not your person. It’s a message not to ignore. What’s interesting in this passage today, is that Cornelius was a religious person who would not be saved and Peter was an apostle, thinking the salvation of Christ was only with Jews. Even though Peter is to speak the vision of God, the message of salvation, he needs to hear it just as much as Cornelius does.
