Christians. Sisters. Best Friends.
We as Christians should not be storing up things for moths and rust to destroy. We have to trust that God will provide what we need without having to hoard things. This only causes things to get dusty and clutter things up, or even to be ruined. We have both struggled with this and in our walk with God we are learning that we are not trusting him when we do this. Our items are not being used for those in need and we have to care for them! We are serving our items and giving our time to them! We are making temptations for others to rob and cause sin. Talk to God and ask him to guide you on who needs the items that you don’t!
Luke 12:29-34 ESV
“And do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, nor be worried. For all the nations of the world seek after these things, and your Father knows that you need them. Instead, seek his kingdom, and these things will be added to you. “Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Sell your possessions, and give to the needy. Provide yourselves with moneybags that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
Matthew 6:1-4 CSB
““Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. Otherwise, you have no reward with your Father in heaven. So whenever you give to the poor, don’t sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be applauded by people. Truly I tell you, they have their reward. But when you give to the poor, don’t let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.”
Philippians 4:12-13 CSB
“I know how to make do with little, and I know how to make do with a lot. In any and all circumstances I have learned the secret of being content — whether well fed or hungry, whether in abundance or in need. I am able to do all things through him who strengthens me.”
1 Timothy 6:17-19 CSB
“Instruct those who are rich in the present age not to be arrogant or to set their hope on the uncertainty of wealth, but on God, who richly provides us with all things to enjoy. Instruct them to do what is good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and willing to share, storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of what is truly life.”
