Tony Cannon asks recently retired vicar of Hailsham Parish Church, David Bourne, and chartered accountant and church member, Colin Dadswell how they went about setting up a parish trust. Church Society cannot give legal advice and it would be very wise for a church to take independent legal advice before setting up such a trust, especially as PCC members are trustees of the PCC charity and there needs to be clear separation between any trust and the PCC. It is essential that PCC members do nothing that could be seen or thought to impact negatively on the role and assets of the PCC.
