On this episode of Cigars and Sea Stories, Mike and Bennett are discussing the invasion of Normandy to celebrate the anniversary of D-Day, June 6th, 1944. The invasion was supposed to take place days before, however rain and fog delayed the efforts of hundreds of thousands of allied troops. Finally, after long anticipation, the fog lifted and they travelled across the english channel in higgins boats ready to bring justice to the Nazis that were actively conquering Europe. What an awe inspiring sight it must have been. MG-42s rained down heavy volumes of fire from Nazi pill boxes. Shrapnel, rifle and pistol caliber projectiles, bangalores, bazookas, flame throwers, air assets, bombardments etc., the orchestrated chaos of war. This was the first time many of the landing troops had even seen combat. They new what it meant putting on a uniform and raising the flag in enemy territory. Putting an end to tyranny, slaughter, and oppression. It is through their selfless sacrifice that freedom prevailed. A true testament of our human spirit.

We are truly grateful for those brave souls who faced the enemy and ultimately prevailed. Thank you for your sacrifice through service.
