Motorcycles are the topic on this episode of Cigars and Sea Stories. Mike and Bennett are talking steel horses, the thrill of the open road, and speed wobbles. Bennett was an avid rider for a time. He made the trip from Lejeune to Myrtle on the back of a new Honda CBR 900, travelling at speeds that some would call “mach Jesus”. Mike grew up on sport bikes also. Screaming around SoCal on his crotch rocket with all the other Jarheads. He recounts the story of getting caught with a personally owned vehicle while at the school of infantry. “Pain or paperwork” - he chose pain. While at Quantico Mike got a little Yamaha Virago and bobbed it out. He eventually made the ultimate leap to Harley-Davidson and purchased an Iron 883, which at 6’,2” made him look like a monkey humping a football. It was a fun bobber for zipping through Oceanside.
All through Afghanistan Mike kept a picture of his dream bike with him. A few weeks after returning home, he traded in the sportster for a Harley Softail Blackline that he’s affectionately named “Matilda”. Check out all the pics and share some of your own. Stay safe and enjoy the ride!
