On this episode Bennett sits down and talks with Stephen Cochran.
Stephen Cochran is an Eastern Kentucky native and long time resident of Music City. He has been writing, recording, performing, and producing country music for well over a decade. Initially following in his father’s footsteps as a country music artist, Stephen later decided that he wanted his music to make a positive impact on a very specific group of people, a group that he himself belongs to…American Veterans.
Stephen served overseas as a United States Marine in both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. He was critically injured in Afghanistan and was told he may never walk again. Stephen recovered. He began his music career as a singer/songwriter soon after he was discharged from the Marine Corps, performing at venues all over the United States and even returning to the Middle East to perform for the troops, all the while, battling the residual traumas of war and struggling to connect to those around him.
Stephen is a solo act now, writing and performing songs that speak to those who have lost, who struggle to adjust, and who are constantly searching for something to keep them going. His message reminds us that we all have our demons, but we also have each other. Stephen continues to write and perform, but he spends most of his time with his wife Megan, their two children, and his service dog Semper Fi, as they all impatiently await the birth of their son in January 2018.
