GI Flashlight, Army flashlight, angle-head flashlight or as we affectionately call it, the moonbeam. On this episode of Cigars and Sea Stories, Mike and Bennett are talking about the multiple uses for the Fulton MX991/U Flashlight.
It’s been standard issue since Vietnam. Guys would rock the D-cell operated behemoth on their deuce gear at chest level. It feels like having a traffic signal taped to your chest. Fighting forces are now issued the tactical light, which features red, white, blue and infrared LEDs and a strobe function. It uses AA batteries, making it light enough to attach to your helmet for comfortable long-term use. But, you cannot crack somebody in the face with it, which is one major drawback. The age old moonbeam has the lethality of a tire iron. It’s like a night stick and a maglite had a illegitimate bastard love child that resulted in a ribbed batton with a signal button. Just ask the Natty Guard. They've been crackin hippie skulls with moonbeams since Kent State, god bless ‘em.
