BELINDA GILBEY
Belinda Gilbey (she/her) is a female entrepreneur, green building enthusiast and market leader in heat pump technology. Her graduation from the University of Ottawa with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering kickstarted her successful professional journey that was fueled by her passion for clean technologies. Since then, she’s been raising awareness on the positive effects that these technologies provide, not only from an environmental point of view but also from a cost reduction angle. Under Belinda’s guidance, BONDI is now aiming to decarbonize as many buildings as possible across North America.

The Shale Project is a multimedia storytelling initiative “roughly in the shape of a planet”. Together, (partners in life and art) Authors Avi Silver (they/them) and Sienna Tristen (they/them) have built a shared fantasy world and are populating it with all manner of stories.
Shale stands atop three pillars: top-notch worldbuilding, daring and exploratory fiction, and the philosophy that art is medicine. Since its inception in 2018, the project has published two book series, a theme song, and interactive media. Their latest project is The Heretic’s Guide to Homecoming, Book Two: Practice which launches October 25th with an in-person book launch in Toronto. Learn more at welcometoshale.com
Belinda and her team are now moving forward to complete a 300+ unit heat pump retrofit project in an old Toronto building, demonstrating the push towards green energy solutions, which Belinda believes will help us reach net zero. While the multi-unit buildings business is dominated mostly by men, Belinda is a woman with a vision in a marketplace with tough barriers and has been a strong voice for local green energy solutions in the industry.
