Diana Souhami was brought up in London and studied philosophy at Hull University. She has published biographies of Gluck, Gertrude Stein, Alice Keppel, Radclyffe Hall, Romaine Brooks and Edith Cavell. Her biography of Alexander Selkirk, Selkirk's Island, won the Whitbread Biography Award.

As proud members of the LGBTQ+ community, directing duo Sean Horlor and Steve J. Adams have created work that shines a spotlight on misunderstandings—queer and otherwise. Their first feature-length documentary Someone Like Me (NFB), follows a group of queer volunteers as they resettle a young gay asylum seeker in Canada. They have directed and produced many projects, including the award-winning short The Day Don Died (Hot Docs 2019) and Brunch Queen (Inside Out 2018).
