Sermon Text: Ephesians 6:10-20 Sermon Date: 7/14/2024 Speaker: Corey Deyamport Fights in the Christian faith are not just physical, but emotional, and spiritual warfare. Just after talking about family, Paul talks about how to fight, by making sure to not commit to actions that would cause us to be rash, or drunk. But rather, be filled with the spirit in our fight. Paul urges us to be strong in the Lord, and in His might. “Armor” in this passage, contains not just armor, but weapons as well. We’re not just talking about being a good Christian, but an ongoing battle against principalities and forces of darkness. The armor of God has six pieces: Belt of truth - honesty. Believers can point out the lies of Satan. Breastplate of Righteousness- protects the heart and organs. When the devil tries to bring up our past sins, we can be certain of our forgiveness. Shoes of the gospel of peace - when faced with fear, we remain steady and confident. Shield of faith - faith acts as a protective barrier against attacks of the enemy. Helmet of salvation - assurance of salvation provides confidence and assurance. Sword of spirit - the only offensive piece in the "Armor." By weirding scripture, we can counter the devils and evil’s attacks. The Lord has equipped us with divine armor, no matter what happens. We have the Lord fighting for us even as we making our stand. But, why do we receive such covering? Because we have an adversary who comes only to steal, kill and destroy; and God’s heart is for us to be with Him. #churchservice #armorofgod #spiritualwarfare
