Fayetteville’s fifth podcast episode features upcoming events and answers the question, ‘What is Economic Development?’

The City of Fayetteville published its fifth episode of the CityVision Podcast featuring interview with Fayetteville Police Captain Austin Dunn, Economic Development Director Lori Funderwhite, and Main Street Fayetteville Program + Events Manager Michele Holmes. Much of the discussions centered around a variety of upcoming events, but Host Michael Stuart also dove into the City’s economic development strategy (11:00) and the very popular Citizens Police Academy (8:30).

Talking about the upcoming Citizens Police Academy fall session, Captain Dunn said, “It covers every area of our profession in detail. The other cool thing about it is you see the community getting to know officers on a personal level. It’s a really cool relationship-building program.”

When Stuart asked Funderwhite, “What is Economic Development?” she answered, “It’s about attracting new businesses, it’s about revitalizing your commercial corridors, and really attracting that investment to create a more vibrant city.” She spoke about several projects, including downtown redevelopment and revitalizing the Highway 85 North corridor.

Stuart wrapped up Episode Five with Holmes sharing details about the amazing Kick’n Rhythm soccer and music festival (17:20) set for August 10.
