Marissa Mitchell was born and raised in Southern California. She attended the University of California, Los Angeles, for her undergraduate degree and the University of Southern California for her Master’s Degree. Having been raised as an evangelical Christian, she converted to Judaism at the age of 29, and now engages in various spiritual practices. She lives with her son, Michael Easthouse.

Marissa has been to four different eating disorder treatment centers. She's experienced a divorce and multiple health issues. Because of her intense desire to realize true recovery, Marissa dedicated years to overcome her trauma through CBT, energy work, hypnosis, regression therapy, body work, and EMDR. Her dedication to her recovery was further inspired by the birth of her son. Not wanting to pass on a legacy of trauma, she sought full recovery from all of her addictions, including alcohol abuse and codependency, as well as a host of health issues.

Because of her efforts, she reached a high level of emotional and mental health without the help of conventional psychiatric medicine or substances. So as to help others, she became a Reiki Master, Certified Life Coach, and Certified Nutritionist. Her wish is to pass on both education and hope to anyone who wishes to recover from eating disorders, health issues, or major life changes.
