Adversity

Four years ago the team faced adversity when top player Damian Lillard broke his foot. The injury ended his season. That year another starter also injured his shoulder and was not able to play up to his potential. That year the team was favored to win the conference. However, the injuries came a week before conference play began. The first few weeks of conference player were a struggle, but the team began to click. Ultimately, they would they were one game shy of wining the conference championship.

Drill Tips

Coach Rahe’s favorite drill is a defensive drill called three and out. The team pits three teams of four against each other. The defensive team must get three consecutive stops to get off the court. Stops are not limited to points. If the defensive team gives up an offensive rebound or fouls they go back to zero.

Recommendations for the Offseason

Athletes now face a great deal of distraction, which can lead to excuses and reasons not to practice. Players who want to get better must dedicate themselves to practicing and avoid the distractions. Your actions must match your words.
