Ellen Jovin is a grammar freak, the creator of the website "Words & Worlds of New York," and a founder and principal of Syntaxis, a communication skills training firm based in New York City. She has a B.A. in German from Harvard and an M.A. in comparative literature from UCLA. Ellen can often be found walking or running around the city doing language lessons on her phone, a long-term habit that ultimately led to her joining the accomplished English polyglots Richard Simcott and Alex Rawlings to organize the first Polyglot Conference ever in North America. On October 10 and 11, hundreds of sometimes shockingly multilingual people will descend on the SVA Theatre in Manhattan for two days of language talks and linguistic camaraderie. This event is open to anyone who loves language; all you have to do is register (preferably ahead of time or you pay extra) and bring your linguistic affections with you.
