#004 – There is a myth that public speaking is something monumental that is out of reach, reserved only for the few who were born with a talent for it. My guest, Rosemary Ravinal, argues that, on the contrary, everyone is a public speaker.
We each speak thousands and thousands of words every day and, as human beings, we have an extraordinary ability to communicate. Unfortunately, many people including coaches fear speaking in public. If you’re one of them, this episode is for you. Rosemary and I talked about:
  • The myth that public speaking is our biggest fear as humans
  • How coaches can overcome the fear of speaking in public
  • How to use stories to capture attention
  • Body language and what to do with our hands
  • Communication in the digital world

Rosemary Ravinal is a former international media executive and broadcaster who has transitioned to her first love: public speaking. For more than three decades, Rosemary was a senior corporate communications leader and spokesperson for Fortune 100 companies in New York and South Florida.
In 2019, she left Univision Network, the leading Spanish-language media company in the United States, to establish her practice as a media readiness, presentation skills, and public speaking coach for C-suite executives in bilingual, bicultural settings. In 2020, she adapted her coaching model for the virtual stage and created the ZoomScore™ based on 10 essential elements of professional video meetings.
Her first book, titled The Joy of Thinking Out Loud, will be published in 2023.
