In July of 1898, a literal goldmine was discovered along a tributary of the Snake River in remote Alaska. The news traveled quickly, bringing hundreds and then thousands of hopeful miners to the Alaskan wilderness. However, it soon became clear that there was not enough room for everyone. As American miners squared off with international travelers, a political powerhouse across the country began planning a widespread conspiracy to take complete control of the area.
