It's another edition of the Nation's College Basketball show and host T.J. Rives is serving up some great guests and stories, even though we don't have a 2020 Final Four.
First, legendary voice of the UConn Huskies, Joe D'Ambrosio, comes on to talk UConn's four national title wins that he called and was part of from 1999-2014. Hear him talk about the first win over mighty Duke, the amazing '11 team that won 5 games in 5 days at the Big East tourney just to make the "Big Dance." And, the year that he worked both the Men's and Women's Final Four calls for the Huskies on the radio going back and forth to two different cities in the same four days!
Next, Ari Russell is on from New York talking GREAT stories including the 2006 Final Four, where he and T.J. were in the path of serious bad weather during that weekend and had to evacuate the hotel with Final Four fans. Ari also has a great story from court side about the game winning buzzer beater for the National Championship for Villanova in 2016 in Houston.
Then, Mark Wise, TV analyst with ESPN and the SEC Network and longtime analyst with T.J. on Sirius/XM, Fox Sports Radio and Tunein is back with more tremendous Final Four stories. Mark was an assistant coach for Purdue in the 1980 Final Four, when they played but lost to famed UCLA. Three years later, he was in "The Pit" in Albuquerque for the famed N.C. State Upset of "Phi Slamma Jamma" and Houston. Mark then tells the the tale of working on radio for back to back Florida National Titles in 2006-07. And he and T.J. reminisce about more and more for these great weekends past.
Finally, batting cleanup is Matt Zemek of Badgerwire.com from USAToday, talking 2015 Final Four and Wisconsin's famous upset of 38-0 Kentucky in the Semi-Final. Looking back 5 years later, how did that Badger team do it? Also, Matt relays the reasons behind the Final Four growing in massive popularity over the past 35 years or so.
Yes, we don't have games or a champion for this year. But, you can sit back and enjoy PHENOMENAL stories on "College Basketball Coast to Coast!"
