In this issue of Com d'Archi, through the voice of Esther, discover the project ‘La Porte Bleue’ — The Blue Door — by Pietri Architectes. This text is written by Anne-Charlotte and based on the French interview with Jean-Baptiste Pietri, founder of Pietri Architectes.

Jean-Baptiste Pietri is one of those rare architects who still allows himself to dream. He has kept a strong, assertive gesture in the practice of the discipline and defines himself as a 'rationalistic romantic'. His agency is involved in numerous programs throughout France, ranging from individual houses to office towers, including a luxury hotel with its feet in the water. But it is to Marseille that he is attached. This Mediterranean heritage is felt in his work of the material, in curves, light colors and thicknesses.

The 'La Porte Bleue' project in Marseille is a four-star tourist residence and housing. Located between the port, the roads and the city, it is one of the gates to Marseille. Symbol of a ‘living together’ characteristic of the Phocaean city, where communities have been crossing and mixing for centuries. The facades of this tower are adorned with lace made of a multitude of white concrete vaults leaning on each other. A real design feat, that nevertheless meets strict specifications with the choice of a concrete shaped locally with a lower environmental impact.

Enjoy sunny Côte d’Azur in this episode!
