This Sunday our gospel reading is from Matthew 15, 21-28. The lesson tells of a foreign Canaanite woman reaching out to Jesus to heal her daughter. The dialog between the two becomes a bit over the edge as Jesus informs her that he is here to care for the “Lost Sheep” of Israel, and that he would not take food meant for the children and give it to the dogs. She informs Jesus that she would settle for the "scraps" of his healing power. In the process, she shows a sense of boldness and courage that can teach us all about how we should approach God with our personal needs.
