Kiana Honarmand is the last of three 2022 Content Emerging Artists, receiving $5,000 to continue the development of her art form in addition to being recognized for her unique artistic vibrancy.

Originally from Iran, Honarmand moved to the U.S. in 2012 to attend graduate school in Pennsylvania and eventually found herself in the Bay Area in 2019. Honarmand’s work shares the process of immigration, the stigma that comes with it, censorship, and her experiences as a woman in patriarchal Iran. “I’m interested in finding ways to connect with people through our shared experiences, and I found that art is a much kinder way to start a conversation,” Honarmand says. Every year, @SVCREATES recognizes the region’s finest artists through the Content Emerging Artist Award. These are artists who have demonstrated a commitment to developing their art forms and enriching the greater Santa Clara County region with exhibitions, performances, presentations, and service.

The 2022 @svcreates Content Emerging Artist Award winners will be celebrated at the Content Magazine Pick-Up Party on Thursday, May 19 in conjunction with the first annual Cilker Art + Design Expo. @wvccilkersoad @westvalleycollege
