Anxiety can also show up in the form of controlling things, needing things to be a certain way. Otherwise there'll be havoc in the world. It can also show up physically. Your heartbeat rises. You feel like you're holding your breath. Your muscles tense up. Your brain is full of what-if scenarios. You're always preparing for the worse. You have 5 different back-up plans for each decision in your life. And you might even find yourself obsessively eating or cleaning. In our culture nowadays, we've accepted anxiety as a normal part of our lives when really it is a flight or fight response and we're not meant to be anxious all the time. Dear Younger Me, don't let anxiety rule your life. It is not from God and there is a way we can be free from it.

What to do when you're fearful and anxious:

1. Ask Holy Spirit to give you peace because it is a fruit of the Spirit and to walk in step with the Spirit so that your desires to control everything will be released. If you do one, you cannot do the other.

2. Understand who God is and His characteristics. He is good, knows everything, has good plans for you and is with you all the time.

3. Work through trauma with the Holy Spirit. There might be traumatic experiences in your life that impact the way you function. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you what is causing you your anxiety? What are the fears that are holding you back?

4. Speak God's truth over your life. There's a reason that the Word is our weapon. It's the sword of the spirit that can cut through lies. There's power in speaking bible verses

5. Do a social media fast. All of these social media platforms are designed to make you compare yourself to others and make you vie for what you don’t have. Don't use social media to replace real human interactions and create a digital world where you live in. You are going to be disappointed with the real life you're living.
