Everyone's family is special but mine is a little different. I take pride in being a Quander, one of the oldest & largest documented Black families in America. My blood line means everything to me & being able to call to a number of amazing human beings my kin is the greatest flex of all time. Shameeka Butler, my cousin & Virgo twin, is an outstanding social worker & an advocate for making health care as accessible as possible. Being a natural born giver, Shameeka finds joy in being able to serve others & helping them get to where they want and need to be. Selfless in nature, she also shares with me the importance of prioritizing herself, her peace & what means the most to her. The two of us discuss our relationships with ourselves; how daily gratitude brings her to where she needs to be; and how essential it is for us to keep our heads up no matter what odds are stacked against us.
