Today we’ll be exploring family law and its implications for our clients, with family law master Lorie Nachlis. Why do we want to know about family law? Because our clients are humans, humans have families, and families sometimes have friction. We want to be able to issue spot for our clients, and when appropriate make sure they get help from someone like Lorie. So who is Lorie Nachlis? She’s a practitioner with four decades of experience as a litigator and mediator. Early in her career she did jury trial work in federal and state court before shifting her full attention to family law. She also mediated between the parents of special education students and school districts throughout the State. The combined insight jury work and mediation provided gave her the launchpad to explore creative resolution concepts with the ability to pivot into litigation when necessary.

Lorie’s subject matter mastery got her a direct appointment by the former Chief Justice of the California Supreme Court to the Elkins Task Force, where Lorie and others revised and improved family law policy and procedure. Lorie was named Fellow of the Year by the Northern California Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, named one of the top two Bay Area family lawyers by The San Francisco Recorder, and received the Award of Merit from the San Francisco Bar Association. In between all this, Lorie has been a successful parent, grandparent, and scuba diver.
