Show notes and corrections (written by Plamen Dobrev):

  • This was an emotional episode, so some errors slipped by. Three bigger ones to be more precise.
  • Number one, Bulgaria is not an ESA member state, and only has a cooperation agreement with the agency, therefore doesn't have a say in any matters related to this space program. As far as I know, no Bulgarian representatives attended the council. This one's on me, because I didn't clear that up when talking to Pedro about it.
  • Number two, the Vega first stage isn't the upper stage for the Ariane 6. Jarrod was referring to the Vega first stage being identical to Ariane 6's first stage SRBs.
  • And number three, the European lifting body vehicle, upon which the Space Rider is based is called the IXV, not the YXV. That stands for Intermediate eXperimental Vehicle.
  • Pedro brought up a certain anti-Musk troupe, and whilst we'll never share a link to their website directly, we don't mind sharing its name, which is "Stop Elon From Failing Again". The Drive's Liane Yvkoff, wrote an excellent article on these people and their connections to the energy industry.
  • That's not to say Musk shouldn't be stopped. He most definitely should be. Open thyne eyes: http://www.stopelonmusk.org/
  • Speculations around the faith of the Progress 65p (MS-04) have been rampant, but we would advise waiting out the first Roscosmos update on the findings of the investigative commission, which will be released on December 20th. We'll be sure to keep you updated on that.
  • If you're willing to trust me, you're making a grave mistake. If you're still willing to trust me after reading the previous sentence, then head on over to our Facebook page, where I wrote a little something on the events surrounding the Progress failure, and the spacecraft's future.
