The CTDEA Team watched 2003's The Last Samurai - based at the time of the Satsuma Rebellion and starring Tom "Xenu" Cruise as Nathan Algren - a re-imagining of the Republic of Ezo's Jules Brunet. Is The Last Samurai a realistic depiction of Japan in the late nineteenth century or is it a Nipponian Braveheart? We found out.
