Allie Colleen is a Country Music singer/songwriter originally hailing from Oklahoma and now living and building a career in Nashville. Allie joins Country Music Made Me to discuss how songwriting helped her release and overcome the difficult emotions she kept inside as a youngster, the amazing transformation that took place when she began performing, and how music allowed her to create a unique voice during a time when she was struggling with the insecure feelings of self-doubt. Allie and Brendan talk about her Grandma Colleen, how her musical spirit and infectious personality continues to live on within Allie, and the role all of her family has played in leading her towards a musical career. Allie explains why she was determined to attend Belmont University from a young age, the deal she made with her parents to get a degree before pursuing a career in music, and the loop holes she took advantage of to prepare herself for life after graduation, which included playing at the Blue Bird Café and Grand Ole Opry. Allie talks about the start of her Country Music Career, what it's like to figure out who you want to be as an artist, and the many different avenues you can take when first starting out, which can be a tad bit overwhelming. Finally, Allie talks about her debut album Stones, the events that have impacted her journey and helped her craft the album, and the overwhelming urge she's had ever since she was young to do what others say shouldn't or can't be done.
