Up to 50% of antibiotics are prescribed inappropriately, and this overuse is rapidly accelerating resistance, leading to increased mortality and morbidity in patients.
Antimicrobial stewardship is a coordinated intervention to reduce the use of unnecessary antibiotics and improve patient outcomes. At the center of patient care, nurses have tremendous influence in the success of such programs.
This podcast will cover effective elements of antimicrobial stewardship as well as practical strategies for nurses.
