Do you ever journal when you are having a tough time?
I have kept a diary and journaled since I was about twelve years old.

I go through ebbs and flows with it, but I always turn to my journal during difficult times.

Let’s face it, it’s far cheaper than paying for therapy. I’m not saying that journaling is a substitute for therapy.

In fact, from my own experience as a therapist, when people journal in conjunction with therapy, their progress accelerates.

I use journaling as a tool within most of my therapy sessions these days and encourage my clients to journal between our sessions. They take screenshots of what they have written and email them to me. This is incredibly helpful because I can identify patterns quickly and often get a better sense of the main issues.

Whether you are in therapy or not, turning to your journal when you find something hard can be very helpful. You can be your own therapist if you know the right questions to ask yourself and allow yourself the freedom to express your thoughts.

Today, I am going to share some of my favourite journaling questions that I use when I am stuck in overthinking and my inner critic comes out to play.

If you would like to learn how to be your own therapist and journal through tough times, sign up for my free Journaling through Tough Times workbook. #
