Manage episode 387560723 series 3480774
The Caribbean island nation of Trinidad and Tobago is confronted with some big challenges. On one hand it has been facing declining hydrocarbon production for over a decade, on the other it must manage the increasing assertiveness of Venezuela towards Guyana. In fact, the latter is a member of the Caribbean Community, CARICOM, together with Trinidad. However, could Trinidad's political position in these growing tensions complicate the Dragon Gas Project that Venezuela and Trinidad have planned to develop? This project could potentially turn the country's energy prospects around. Trinidad must tread carefully as it balances its priorities in the Southern Caribbean region.
