In Part 3 of our series "Family Chat," a series on Christian Parenting, Pastor Doug focuses on the nature and necessity of discipline.
In this biblically based view of discipline, we understand that God’s grace covers our sins and discipline driven by love, is a key way God teaches us to live according to His standards.

The sermon draws parallels between God's discipline and parental discipline. Just as God disciplines His children out of love to guide them toward holiness, parents must discipline their children to teach them right from wrong. Discipline should be consistent and done for the child's benefit, not out of anger or frustration.
This message highlights three types of undisciplined parenting to avoid: lifeguard parents who rescue their children from all consequences, Etch-a-Sketch parents who are inconsistent, and split-decision parents who are ununified in their approach.

Join us as we understand the ultimate goal of discipline is to guide children to be self-disciplined and to develop a loving, obedient relationship with God.
