CO-FOUNDER & CEO

Iris is a former teacher, community activist, and artist who became a software engineer after realizing that technology could be used to reduce socio-economic inequality.

In 2017 she completed a coding bootcamp and became a software engineer at Mailchimp, where she later led teams and projects as a software engineering manager. During this time she launched Umba Daima as an e-commerce store to help artists sell their work online, then transitioned into building diverse communities in the technology industry.

Iris aims to use her wide array of skill sets such as teaching, community organizing, team building, public speaking, engineering management, product development, and strategic planning to grow Umba Daima into one of the most powerful community building companies in the world.

Umba Daima operates as the parent company to multiple brands including Tech Misfits, Black NFT Art, and Assemble Now.

We've decided to focus our partnership efforts on Tech Misfits and the upcoming community/app launch in summer 2023. This means all partnership work will be tied to Tech Misfits. You're currently signed up as a Umba Daima partner and so I'd like to extend an invitation to convert to being a Tech Misfits partner.

Here are the basic expectations of a Tech Misfits partnership

  • Tech Misfits will provide free NFTs for your community and pre-sale spots.
  • You will be named on the Tech Misfits website as a partner and potentially in press releases.
  • We will create & distribute content to promote your organization
  • We will drive "Calls To Action" for you through our platforms
  • As a partner we ask that you promote Tech Misfits to your audience and engage Tech Misfits content on social media. We also ask that you attend or support some of our online events.
