Dr Jasmine Gideon is a Reader in Gender, Health and International Development at Birkbeck, University of London. Dr Gideon is the author of several articles as well as the monographs Gender, globalization, and health in a Latin American context and Handbook on gender and health (2016) and co-author of two books in 2020, Critical reflections on Public Private Partnerships and Motherhood, social policies and women's activism in Latin America. This episode explores Dr Gideon’s research interests in the gendered political economy of health in Latin America, including male-oriented healthcare systems, the ‘motherisation’ of health policy, and how an increasing presence of Public Private Partnerships impacts reproductive health services.
