Romans: Unfolding the Depths of God's Grace & Mercy | Michelle Rader | Class #5
Manage episode 304839084 series 2636853
The gospel, as Paul says in Romans 1, is the power of God for salvation to all who have faith. God's power defeats sin and death and raises us up into new life in Christ - Good News then and now. Romans, in the words of one scholar, is "the epistle of life." In it, Paul unfolds the Good News of the God who "gives life to the dead" (Rom 4:17) in order that we might live in "newness of life" (6:4) now, and have "eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (5:21). How do we enter this new life and what does it look like for those who are "in Christ?" How does God, through the blood of Jesus and the indwelling Spirit, create "new life" communities from diverse groups of flawed and limited human beings? How do those people respect, love, grow, learn, and live together? Those questions were just as pressing in Paul's day as in ours. Thank you for joining lead elder, Michelle Rader, for this 10-week study of Romans, as we study this great New Testament book which unfolds the depths of God's grace and mercy towards us while also calling us to participate in a life and community of love, peace, justice, and hospitality.
