For years, women have been bombarded by messages that they can only be happy if they look a certain way. Magazines, TV, and movies all perpetuate this version of a stick-thin woman who fits into tiny clothes.

In this episode of Dance to Heal, Jenny shares the mic with Rachel Lavin. She is the author of Doughnut Diaries. She wrote the book to reach out to women to make them feel that they are not alone in what they are feeling with their bodies and to help them heal their relationship with food.

What to expect in this episode:

04:47 - We are all different, and we need to accept that.

07:16- "My body is none of your business."

09:21 - The Doughnut Diaries

16:27 - Understand your body and listen to what it responds best to

17:34 – "Honor your body."

About Rachel Lavin:

In 2020 Rachel wrote her first book "The Doughnut Diaries" about her own struggles with her weight and restrictive diets which lasted for over thirty years. Writing her book was her way of sharing her message to women and men alike that they are not alone. Now using her book, Rachel wants to help people who have had or are still experiencing negative body image by using what she now refers to as my three pillars of fitness: Nourishment for both the mind and body, Movement & Rest.

Rachel’s mission is to create a safe space for all women to feel whole in their own body.
