At the dawn of the social media era, Belle Gibson became a pioneering wellness influencer - telling the world how she beat cancer with an alternative diet. Her bestselling cookbook and online app provided her success, respect, and a connection to the cancer-battling influencer she admired the most. But a curious journalist with a sick wife began asking questions that even those closest to Belle began to wonder. Was the online star faking her cancer and fooling the world? Kaitlyn Dever stars in the Netflix hit series Apple Cider Vinegar . Inspired by true events, the dramatized story follows Belle’s journey from self-styled wellness thought leader to disgraced con artist. It also explores themes of hope and acceptance - and how far we’ll go to maintain it. In this episode of You Can't Make This Up, host Rebecca Lavoie interviews executive producer Samantha Strauss. SPOILER ALERT! If you haven't watched Apple Cider Vinegar yet, make sure to add it to your watch-list before listening on. Listen to more from Netflix Podcasts .…

A variety podcast of silliness, randomness, and some history about Husking Bees, events that were a part of rural American social life of the 1800s to early 1900s. Y’know, stuff people did before Facebook.

Fun with Sleep Apnea! Sleep Medicine, a hammock for my chin, etc. This is the first and last time I will be recorded with mouth gear/appliance in, so it’s pretty special. I want this recording to be played at my funeral someday. 🤣No, we better not, on second thought!
This is the story of Rumpelstiltskin, written by the Brothers Grimm. Rumpelstiltskin is a mythical dwarf. He has anger issues and a desire to either raise a baby or eat a baby...the story is vague about that detail. He attempts to barter his magical spinning skills to gain the baby, but is thwarted because he can’t keep himself from boasting aloud during his nighttime solo dance parties. Enjoy this classic fairy tale.…
Briar Rose by the Brothers Grimm. The original of what we think of as the story of Sleeping Beauty. There’s a talking fish! Storytelling by Darla of Dork may decrease insomnia for some listeners. This statement has not been approved by the FDA and is not meant to treat or cure any disease. Note for sensitivity, this story contains 1 violent incident split into 2 parts, in which a boy is getting his ears boxed, and several incidences of rather generic princes dying, and a finger getting poked by a spindle...but you should’ve expected the spindle to princess violence. Language: English, Inglés…
The original Brothers Grimm story is different from the Disney version and the many adaptations we’ve known. Storytelling by Darla of Dork Bedtime story, go to sleep, insomnia cure reading in English language
Published a few hours past Memorial Day 2020. 💝In 1915, T. Harold Watts wrote a letter to a friend back home in England. His letter is an interesting window to what life was like in battle in World War One, “the Great War,” I believe it was called. UPDATE- Thomas Harold Watts did survive the war. Here is Information from the National Archives of the U.K.: Thomas Harold Watts, 18 June 1915, Dardanelles. Born: 28 August 1884, Regiment: Drakes Battalion, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, Died: 11 September 1953…
Danderine was some kind of hair treatment to reduce disease of the scalp without making people go cuckoo for cocoa-puffs. Maybe the word “dandruff” hadn’t been created yet. Danderine was apparently made to prevent dander, or dandruff. I just love the use of language in these old ads. Feel free to send in requests for other old or odd ads! I might be able to find them.
