Willem Maris (1844-1910) wordt gezien als één van de belangrijkste vertolkers van de Haagse School. En de enige die echt impressionistisch werkte, met felle kleuren en een los penseel. Maar kan een Nederlander nog iets nieuws ontdekken aan een landschapsschilderij? Maarten Westerveen gaat met die vraag langs bij het Gemeentemuseum in Den Haag en spreekt met Hans Jansen, conservator van het museum waar zojuist een tentoonstelling van Willem Maris is geopend.
