The Fijian journalist and filmmaker by trade migrated to Australia as a child after the abolishment of the “White Australian Policy” in the ’60s. This policy aimed to forbid people of non-European ethnic origins – Pacific Islanders and Asians – from immigrating to Australia.⠀⠀As a child, Valerie explains how she endured racism and unanswered questions about her identity.
