Current United States immigration policy is to deport over 400,000 people a year. As well, state legislatures and the private prison industry have created additional laws that use state and local resources to enforce federal immigration law. Take a look at the Byzantine immigration deportation regime and the complicated process to try and legalize a person's immigration status through the stories of two undocumented individuals facing deportation, Jeanette Vizguerra, a mother of three young U.S. Citizen children, and Jesus Gerardo Noriega, 20, whose parents brought him to the U.S. as a young child in search of a better life.
