At 10 a.m. on the morning of February 2nd, 2008, the Lane Bryant store and Tinley Park, Illinois opened for the day. Just minutes later, a man entered the store posing as a delivery person. He eventually pulled out a gun and took the store manager, a part time employee, and four customers hostage. The six women were forced into a back room, where they were bound with duct tape and shot, execution style. The store manager and the four customers were killed instantly, but the part time employee survived. She had moved just as the gunman fired, and although she was shot in the neck, she lived to give police a detailed description of the killer. Despite her account and an extensive investigation, the gunman has never been identified. It's been over 16 years since Rhoda McFarland, Jennifer Bishop, Carrie Chiuso Hudek, Connie Woolfolk and Sarah Szafranski were murdered, and investigators are still searching for the person responsible.
On the morning of February 2nd, 2008, five women were murdered inside the Lane Bryant store in Tinley Park, Illinois. The gunman entered the store at 10:08 a.m. posing as a delivery person, and by 10:46 a.m. he had executed five victims.
Surveillance footage captured two vehicles outside the store, a dark colored SUV and a smaller sedan, both leaving moments after the murders. The gunman was described as a husky, medium to dark complected black man, approximately 6ft - 6ft two inches tall, with a receding hairline and braided hair. He was wearing black jeans with rhinestones on the back pocket and a charcoal gray knit cap.
His identity remains unknown. If you have any information in this case, please call the Tip hotline at (708) 444-5394 or email LaneBryant.Tipline@TinleyPark.org. There is still a $100,000 reward.
