In 2016, Donald Trump won 81 percent of the white Evangelical vote. In the 2020 presidential election, that number went essentially unchanged. Over the last few decades, white evangelical Christians have become a critical part of the Republican Party. And because of that, they both changed American politics and the way the church operates.
