We don't think of something as a problem until it affects us. But homelessness affects us when people make us feel sad in the street because they're dirty and have a sign with a sad story asking us for money.
Sometimes they don't have those things but we see them sleeping in a vestibule on the side of a supermarket, or a bus shelter. This can also make us sad.
Melanie Raymond from Youth Projects joins us to talk about why homeless people might need more than just our privileged sympathy.
