Fatherless homes have increased significantly since 1960, so much so that the experience of children growing up in the average American household today is dramatically different from the one experienced by people born before 1970. Does this matter? Yes, it does. Turns out God knew what he was doing when he designed the family unit as mother and father and children. Now we also can point to sad statistics demonstrating the negative social pathologies children experience when they grow up in fatherless homes. I was blessed with two grandfathers and a father who were good men, engaged, and made a mark on my life. They are now in heaven so the baton is passed and it's now my turn.
