Barry first found music when he borrowed his sister's record collection when he was about eight and was hooked. When Caroline started it was a new beginning, and he listened to all the stations, but Caroline was his favourite by far. Later he became a singer in a band, then started doing discos when he was 18. Conceived with his longtime friend and collaborator Michael Gibbs, Orchestras sees Frisell and his trio (Thomas Morgan on bass and Rudy Royston on drums) teaming up with the 60-piece Brussels Philharmonic and the 11-piece Umbria Jazz Orchestra. Together, they explore songs that have been staples of Frisell's setlists for years in electrifying and groundbreaking new ways.
