We offer artists a platform to reach you far from the club scene - connected day and night. Not knowing why, M I C H A E L • E L L I S [@ellis |Freiburg, GER] started playing his records to friends and strangers. Some seemed to like it, so he continued playing records to them. Out of these shenanigans, various club nights, hangovers, ringing ears and interestingly enough, more invitations to play records to other people have sprung. It is ridiculous. Let’s cut to the chase: Inspired by whatever happened on dance floors in the late 70s until today, Michael Ellis built up a record collection and hosted events just to make some use of that collection. Important to note: Michael has NOT set foot on the aforementioned dance floors of the 70s, as he was born in the 90s when nobody seemed to care about Disco anymore. But from what he read and heard first hand, it must have been quite a scene. Thank God the records of those decades, especially original U.S. Disco, Italian oddities and New York City's Vocal House stompers with a splash of Gospel can still be purchased at affordable prices, until Michael runs out of space. Today in Freiburg, he roams the sonic spheres by hosting „Ready or Not“, Roller Discos, House Dance Jams and recently „Brighter Days“, the latter bringing together international acts and local talent of everything Disco, House and Techno.
