Do You Still Like Us?

One time a witch became exceptionally cross with the 2 little girls. She has been sick all week, but she makes her slow way to the marketplace to get a ripe melon she can enjoy all by herself, on her porch as the sun sets, light low, heat hiding till the morning. But as she arrives at the fruit stand she sees the 2 selfish, little girls buying the last melon for themselves! She rages inside! She boils! She thinks of every nasty, dastardly spell she can cast on these 2 little, dead girls walking. The 2 little girls pay for the melon and notice her glaring at them in a particularly nasty way. They smile back in their blind, sweet little way.‘miss w we are so glad we bumped into you! we heard you’ve been sick all week’‘we didn’t see you all day and when we noticed that there was only one melon left we knew we had to buy it for you’‘we know they’re your favorite’Just then a cool breeze blows through the entire marketplace as the witch begins to smile.”Why now, aren’t you 2 just the sweetest, little girls? Would you like to come over and have some melon on my porch, there is the most lovely breeze from the lake.”
