A recent ProPublica study (https://www.propublica.org/article/older-workers-united-states-pushed-out-of-work-forced-retirement) finds that there are currently 40 million Americans over the age of 50 in the workforce. According to their projections, as many as 22 million of this employed population will face a layoff, forced retirement or involuntary job separation. Of the 22 million, only an estimated 2 million will fully financially recover.
