Many children learn the bedtime prayer of “Now I lay me down to sleep. I pray the Lord my soul to keep…” Many worship services end with a benediction that starts “The Lord bless you and keep you…” What are we affirming and seeking when we speak of God as one who keeps us? In the sermon, John Willingham will ponder that question as we reflect on two passages of Scripture that speak of One who “keeps” his people.
