Dream Job Ready Episode 23: Alita Harvey-Rodriguez (Managing Director, MI Academy) and Natalie Khoury (Director of CX, MI Academy).

Do you work in retail or dream to be a brand leader in the retail industry? As a customised training provider, 'MI Academy' helps retailers transform their skill-sets in customer experience (CX), marketing approach and sales impact. Their goal is to encourage businesses and their staff to think, creatively.

I met Alita and Natalie via their innovative 'MI Academy Retail Hack Games' event held in June 2020. That event asked a stack of questions about the future of retail, but one of the key topics we discussed was the future of the retail workforce. With the increase use and application of artificial intelligence, automation and robotics, there is an obvious concern about jobs and employees being replaced, and plenty of questions about how that will be handled. I asked Alita and Nat for their opinions on this, and we discussed our thoughts on what it means to both the employer and employees.

Business wise, we cover plenty in this 25min chat. The girls share some awesome advice about company training, closed-loop strategies, collaboration and design thinking.

On the personal side, Alita and Nat talk about the importance of emotional intelligence and unconscious bias, and share insights about how they "slow down to speed up", a slogan that is one of MI Academy's values.
