Edward Illustrisimo sits down with old-time friend Kim Obejas to learn how he was able to reach his dreams of becoming a successful lawyer while simultaneously being an accomplished Waray artist/rapper with grown dreads and tattoos.
Kim, also known as Deadkey in the music industry, shares his ups and downs as he takes on challenges life has brought, his drive and source of motivation to keep moving forward to be able to color his life the way he wants it to be. They discuss the importance of keeping the Waray culture and literature alive and the pride that comes from imparting knowledge and artistic creations that inspire the younger generation.
Impressed with the growing Waray hip hop culture, Kim highlights young Waray rappers like GGMAC 100 and others which he shares from the Waray Waray Hip hop Podcast.
They discuss Kim's experience as a creative and talk about their rap group Agaron with their single, "Kalayo" featuring Japanese film actress, entrepreneur, and model, Maria Ozawa.
Edward and Kim turn to emphasize the satisfaction brought by being active custodians of heritage and the life it brings to the Waray culture.
