Welcome to the Tuesday edition of the Daily Fill with our Owner and founder Richard Ducat! Every Tuesday Richard gives us a dose of motivation, guidance, life hacks, marketing tips, and more! On today's episode, we talk about my favorite topic in the entire world. Daily Planning through Journaling. It is by far my number one key to success and how I keep track of my entire life every day. The best part is that It only takes me 5-10 minutes a day to prep it. Step 1: Template it and ride Ok.... There is a big misconception with templates and it all starts with the issue of repetitive tasking. Trust me... This will not be an issue if you are creating a Journal theme for each day. This is something that plays a big role in your journaling process. It's a lot easy to choose a specific day of the week for different types of tasks. Example: I choose Monday and my most coveted day. This is the day in which I need the most time to focus on my tasks and abilities to structure the important tasks that span my week. So on Monday I write content, follow up on email, handle tedious tasks like planning and strategy along with the recordings of two of my podcasts. That's it. Tuesdays and Thursdays are my outreach days and the days I try and schedule my phone calls, in-person meetings, and guest podcasts. This is also a school day for my Son so I cram a lot into a small section of time which is why I choose tasks like graphics, content curation and quick turn-around items that I wouldn't need much time to handle. Wednesday is my cool down day and the that focuses on big-picture tasks like the team and company goals, organization, long-term strategy and more. Friday is my follow-up day. I try and stay away from heavy tasks because I am so anxious to hang with my son all weekend that I don't perform at my highest abilities. Step 2: Evaluate, adjust, review. Every week This is the most important step in the simple 2 step process to Daily Planning and Journaling. Every week you need to take a step back and evaluate your week. What worked for you and what didn't work for you? What tasks did you easily complete and what tasks were truly impossible to get to? One issue I constantly face with my journaling is scheduling tasks that are not conducive to my company goals and needs. What I end up doing is skipping the task or pushing it to another day to waste a section of my journal. You must prioritize and create a master calendar for all your most important recurring weekly tasks is a smart move( I will cover this in a future episode). Once you get through your first month of templating your daily planners you will see a pattern of what does and doesn't work for you. So, what's the point, Rich? The point is being the best version of yourself that you can be. The point is succeeding as a drumtrepreneur, being the best employee you can be, being a great teammate, and being able to excel for the better of your personal career in music and in any organization that you have the pleasure of working with! I know this value doesn't apply to everyone but I like to think that most drummers really work hard to be the best they can be all across the board. Got a working template that is kicking ass for you? Send me an email at richard@drummersilike.com and let me know how it's working for you! Also, if you think my templates would help you then I would be stoked to start creating digital versions of them for you all! Just let me know! Big shout out to Sofa King Podcast for this week's mention! Along with the big bag of hot sauce and stickers, I got to check out their studios and they were beyond impressive. ALSO!!! Big shout out to everyone that has recently joined the private facebook group!
